Clinica 20/20 is an ophthalmological center located in San José, Costa Rica. Founded in August 2007, the center boasts the most advanced technological equipment for visual health, some of which are exclusive to the Central American region and the Caribbean. The center is located in the “Torre Médica 20/20” building in Sabana Oeste, directly across from the main entrance of the National Stadium.
At the helm of Clinica, 20/20 is Dr. Claudio Orlich, an experienced ophthalmologist with an impressive resume. Dr. Orlich studied medicine in Costa Rica and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Dr. Luis Sánchez Bulnes Hospital of the Association to Prevent Blindness in Mexico (APEC). After completing his residency, he studied a subspecialty in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in the Cornea Service of the APEC.
Dr. Orlich is a member of various medical associations, including the Costa Rican Association of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the American Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). He has also been recognized as an honorary member of the Colombian Ophthalmology Society.
Before joining Clinica in 20/20, Dr. Orlich worked at the National Children’s Hospital and the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund. During this time, he performed the first implants of “Anillos de Ferrara” in Costa Rica, helped and trained by Dr. Paulo Ferrara, a Brazilian ophthalmologist who invented and developed these implants. In 2007, Dr. Orlich performed the first artificial cornea transplant (Alphacor) in the country, making him the first ophthalmologist in Latin America to apply this type of procedure.
Two years later, Dr. Orlich introduced the first Intralase in Central America and the Caribbean, precisely in Costa Rica. This allowed him to develop the first laser cornea transplant surgeries and the “intrastromal rings” implants, also 100% laser. Today, the center has state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.
In 2011, Dr. Orlich became the first Central American doctor to perform laser cataract surgeries using the LenSx, the first femtosecond laser approved by the FDA. He has published articles in medical journals and collaborated in the writing of ophthalmology books. He has also been a special guest professor at numerous international ophthalmology conferences.
Clinica 20/20 offers a range of services, including laser vision correction, cataract surgery, cornea transplants, glaucoma treatment, and more. The center uses advanced technologies such as femtosecond lasers, OCT (optical coherence tomography), and topography-guided PRK (photorefractive keratectomy).
Clinica 20/20 has a high success rate for eye surgeries, and many patients have left positive reviews of their experiences. One patient, John Smith, said, “I was so impressed with the professionalism and care I received at Clinica 20/20. Dr. Orlich and his team made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process.”
In conclusion, Clinica 20/20 is revolutionizing eye surgery in Central America with its advanced technologies and experienced staff. Dr. Orlich and his team are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to their patients and have a proven track record of success.
